Arduino Hidden Camera Detector

Spy Camera Detector

1. Introduction

A Hidden Camera Detector is a device used to detect spy cameras by identifying wireless transmissions .

This project uses:

  • Arduino Uno
  • RF Power Detector Module (0.1–3200MHz)

This allows detection of Wireless cameras (WiFi / GSM)

2. Components

  • Arduino Uno
  • RF Power Detector Module (0.1–3200MHz)
  • Buzzer
  • LED
  • Resistors (220Ω)
  • Breadboard
  • Connecting Wires

🔹 A. RF Detector Module

  • VCC → 5V
  • GND → GND
  • OUT → A0 (Analog Input)

🔹 C. Output Section

  • Buzzer:
      • → Pin 8
    • – → GND
  • LED:
    • Anode → Pin 7 (via 220Ω resistor)
    • Cathode → GND

🔹 D. Common Ground

👉 Ensure all components share common GND

4. Detailed Step By Step Circuit Working

  1. RF module continuously scans for RF signals
  2. Outputs analog voltage based on signal strength
  3. Arduino reads RF value from A0
  4. Arduino checks:
    • RF signal strength
  5. If exceeds threshold:
    • 🔴 LED ON
    • 🔊 Buzzer ON

5. Libraries to be Included

No external libraries required ✅

6. Code

#define rfPin A0 #define buzzer 8 #define led 7 int rfThreshold = 300; // adjust based on testing void setup() { pinMode(buzzer, OUTPUT); pinMode(led, OUTPUT); Serial.begin(9600); } void loop() { int rfValue = analogRead(rfPin); Serial.print("RF Value: "); Serial.println(rfValue); if (rfValue > rfThreshold) { digitalWrite(buzzer, HIGH); digitalWrite(led, HIGH); Serial.println("RF Signal Detected!"); } else { digitalWrite(buzzer, LOW); digitalWrite(led, LOW); } delay(200); }

7. Detailed Step By Step Code Working

  • analogRead(A0) → Reads RF signal strength
  • analogRead(A1) → Reads IR reflection
  • Threshold values used for detection
  • If RF or IR exceeds limit:
    • LED and buzzer activate
  • Serial monitor shows live values

8. Output

  • Detects wireless cameras 📡
  • Detects hidden lenses 👁️
  • Gives audio + visual alert
  • Displays live signal values

9. Applications

  • Hotel room safety
  • Changing rooms
  • Office security
  • Privacy protection
  • Surveillance inspection

10. Advantages

  • No 12V interface needed
  • Simple and reliable
  • Dual detection system
  • Real-time monitoring
  • Easy to build and explain

11. Disadvantages

  • May detect mobile/WiFi signals (false alerts)
  • Cannot detect wired cameras perfectly
  • Needs calibration for best results

12. Future Improvements

  • OLED display (signal meter)
  • Directional antenna
  • Rechargeable battery
  • Mobile app integration
  • Compact handheld design
